Accommodations Made for a Local, Chianni Rentals

Updated: Jul 26, 2024

Beautiful views, great dining, precious vacation rentals, all within the center of the Pisan Hills, what more could you ask for? About a 45 minute drive Southeast of Pisa and an hour and change southwest of Florence, perched on the side of a hill, lies Chianni. A medieval town whose charm will delight you. Not only does this town make a great base for exploring the area while still having two of Tuscany’s major cities within reach, but the local dining and well the locals themselves will give your stay such an authentic experience.

When staying in Tuscany, you have plenty of choices in terms of accommodations. You have hotels (both big and boutique), agriturismos and of course vacation rentals. In this piece, I will highlight a couple of rentals located in beautiful Chianni that I’ve had the pleasure of both staying in or touring and found them to be not only comfortable but added to the uniqueness of my stay. And they are in no particular owner, so if choosing, know you can’t go wrong with any of these.

Called “The Cottage” this rental was located towards the top of the hill of downtown Chianni, but very well within walking distance to all the amenities of the town. Decorated in very chic European countryside decor, this home was tucked away in a courtyard with gated access. The courtyard is shared with an incredible family that makes and sells fresh pasta everyday (talk about perks). The host was very friendly and responsive, we were a last minute booking and she couldn’t be more accommodating. The home was clean and well equipped with everything you need for your stay and sparing no convenience. The home is well sized for a party of six (which is how many we were). The living room and dining room off the entrance are well sized with a table for six, a couch with a television with local channels and streaming services. The adorable kitchen had everything you need to cook your own meals. The home has two bathrooms (one downstairs with a tub and one up stairs) and two main bedrooms, one has a queen bed and the other bunk beds, all very comfortable. Upstairs is a loft with a sofa bed that can comfortably accommodate two people. And the reviews speak for themselves, making this cozy place a guest favorite.

Next is “Casa Ricciardi”, and I must say this one is special to me just because it was the first rental I stayed in when I bought my house in Chianni. So, it holds special, celebratory memories. But aside from that, we had a great and comfortable stay. Owner Alessandro and his lovely family live across the entry way corridor. The building shares the main entrance, but then breaks up into two separate homes. He was very responsive and made sure our stay was perfect. We were five staying in this rental and it was very comfortable for us. Off the entrance is a well sized living room with television with local channels and streaming services. Off the living room was a terrace with views of the village and an outdoor dining table for dining al fresco, which we definitely took advantage of. Past the living room was an indoor dining room and well equipped kitchen that we hosted a cooking class with Arianna & Friends. The home has one bathroom and two bedrooms. The first bedroom had a queen bed and the second has three twins, so again perfect for our group and we found sharing a bathroom was not an issue. Conveniently, there is parking across the road from the airbnb and the apartment is located towards the bottom of the hill, a very comfortable walking distance to all the dining and amenities the town has to offer.

Location, location, location, “Casa Rosie” has it all. Not only is it beautifully decorated, but it’s located in the center of town. Access to dining, the central bar and shops is literally a flight of stairs down. Rosette has decorated this place as if she lives there, not a beat was missed. The apartment sized for a party of four features a living room off the entrance with a tv and fireplace, the kitchen with dining room is so cute and well equipped with everything you need. The one bathroom and two bedrooms are immaculately put together, with one having a queen and the other having a twin that converts to a queen bed. Full disclosure, I know Rosette as she lives in town and is very charismatic and has beautiful taste. Her rental is a new listing and I expect it to have five star reviews in no time.

All of these rentals really are fabulous, and there are many more that I will talk about in future posts, but I had to start somewhere. The one you pick will be based on your needs and personal style. But one thing is for sure, you just can’t go wrong with Chianni and its beauty, location and the people.
