The beautiful hilltop town of Chianni is not only know for its magnificent views and its yearly Cinghiale Festival, but the dining in this vibrant town is remarkable.
A few to not miss are Chianni Bistro where owner Gabriele and his staff are fun and always ready to welcome you with a smile and the day's specials. His mother and chef, cook up meals that are true to the area and to die for. Everything, and I mean everything, on the menu is fabulous.
Le Vecchie Cantine, next to the Bistro is also a town favorite. A beautiful establishment run by Alessio who is always there to makes sure everything is impeccable. His truffle ravioli is one to write home about, but don’t miss his perfectly grilled steaks and his impeccable wine selection. And be sure to say “Ciao” to Willy for me, no visit to this restaurant is complete if he wasn’t your waiter.
Next on the list is Anna’s Bar, another town staple. Anna’s lunch menu is not only an amazing deal, but oh so delizioso! A variety of home cooked pastas all around eight euros. Pair that with a spritz or beer (also for a couple of euros) on her courtyard, and I dare you to find a better way to spend your midday. Just be sure to not take the front area tables, those belong to the town gentleman that gather to play cards there every afternoon. Gotta love it!
And my last, but certainly not least, notable mention is Il Boschetto. Up the hill, tucked in a street and boasting grounds that can be used to host an event, have live music in the summer or can even throw down volleyball games, Il Boschetto has it all. Not only do they have an extensive pizza menu, but the daily dinner specials are favoloso. And don’t skip dessert here. It’s not only tasty, it’s also a cute, Instagram worthy end to the meal!
My recommendation would be to arrive for lunch then stroll around the town taking in the views, beautiful alley ways, and popping into the little shops along the way. I’d then stop in the wine shop for a tasting and then mosey on over to Bar Centrale for an aperitivo before heading to dinner at one of the restaurants.
